The City of Edmonton is expanding Edmonton’s active transportation network*. The Active Transportation Network Expansion Program is building routes that are safe, accessible and predictable for people of all ages and abilities. The new routes include shared pathways, local street bikeways and bike lanes, providing direct options for commuting, running errands, accessing parks and enjoying the river valley for those who walk, cycle and roll.
As part of this work, the City is creating a north-south connection on both sides of 50 Street from 101 Avenue to north of Gold Bar Park Road. Construction will include:
A shared pathway** on both sides of 50 Street from 101 Avenue to 102/101A Avenue and on the west side from 109A Avenue to just north of Gold Bar Park Road.
On-street, one-way protected bike lanes*** on both sides of 50 Street from 102/101A Avenue to 109A Avenue.
A shared pathway** on the west side of 50 Street from 109A Avenue to the Capilano Park shared pathway.
You can expect to see the following changes along this corridor:
Parking will be removed on both sides of 50 Street, from 102/101A Avenue to 109A Avenue.
New No Parking zones will be in effect 24 hours a day, seven days per week. Signs will be installed, where appropriate, to reflect these changes.
